Cookie Policy
Last updated: 30 July 2026
This Cookie Policy explains how withgovind.com (the “Site”) uses cookies and similar technologies, what each category is for, and how you stay in control. It forms part of my Privacy Policy.
What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file stored on your device when you visit a website. Cookies let a site remember your actions and preferences, and let its owner understand how the site is used. This policy also covers similar technologies: pixels (tiny images that record that a page was loaded), local storage (data your browser keeps for the site), and device fingerprinting signals used by some measurement tools.
Your consent
When you first visit, a cookie banner appears. Only essential cookies load before you choose. Analytics, marketing and preference cookies stay off until you turn them on.
You can change your mind at any time using the cookie preferences control on the Site — the small shield icon in the bottom-left corner reopens your settings. Your choice is stored in your browser under the key cookie-consent.
Because Google tools are used here, Google Consent Mode v2 is implemented. Your choices are passed to Google as consent signals, and its tags restrict how they behave accordingly. When analytics consent is denied, Google may still receive cookieless pings that contain no identifiers.
The categories used on this Site
Necessary — always on
Required for the Site to work, so these cannot be switched off. They cover core delivery and security, remembering your cookie choice, and keeping the contact form working and protected from spam. Providers: this Site, Vercel (hosting), Cloudflare (network security).
Analytics — off by default
Show how visitors find and use the Site so I can improve it: pages viewed, time on page, referring source, approximate location, scrolling and clicks. Providers: Google Analytics 4, Matomo, Microsoft Clarity, Heap, Crazy Egg, Ahrefs Analytics.
Clarity and Crazy Egg build heatmaps and interaction recordings. These capture how a page is used, not what you type into form fields.
Marketing — off by default
Measure the performance of my own advertising and allow relevant ads to be shown. Providers: Google Ads, Meta (Facebook) Pixel.
Preferences — off by default
Remember choices you make so the Site behaves consistently, such as your light or dark theme setting.
Server-side tagging
Some tag requests are sent first to a server-side endpoint on the subdomain stape.withgovind.com, which then forwards them to the relevant provider. This is a common measurement setup that improves data accuracy and reliability. It changes how data travels, not what is collected or who ultimately receives it, and it remains subject to the consent choices you set.
How long cookies last
Session cookies are deleted when you close your browser. Persistent cookies stay until they expire or you delete them — typically from a few days up to 24 months, depending on the provider. Your stored consent choice persists until you clear it or the consent version changes.
Managing cookies in your browser
Beyond the controls on this Site, you can manage cookies in your browser:
You can also opt out of Google Analytics with Google’s browser add-on, or of interest-based advertising at Your Online Choices and the Digital Advertising Alliance.
Blocking all cookies, including essential ones, may stop parts of the Site working.
Changes
I may update this policy as the tools on the Site change. The “last updated” date above always reflects the current version. If the categories change materially, the banner will ask for your consent again.
